Warmth in dark evening
There is a warmth kindling within
In the bleakness of early evening,
In the dark night blue, streaks of cloud
The warm shadow of the creator bows.
He leans over to touch a life with joy
To rescue a soul lost abroad,
He sends a light of life in the night
To reach a dying homeless child.
For that is the state we all are in
Trapped under sin, chained to addiction,
To drugs, make-up, alcohol, to me and you another idol.
To give worth in our lives to a machine,
That is blind and cannot guide us anywhere.
As I gaze up this street there is a warm glow
Not the orange lamps but in my heart, For I know,
You are there, God, leaning over to touch me, to bless, to
heal, to love, it's all I need,
So help me overcome all unbelief and sore to help the broken,
Heal the sick, bind up split hearts, set free all people from
their captivities,
and shine with an inner beauty where all there was were ashes
and dust
