Confession (Words of humility and honesty)

Holy Spirit help me to take an honest look at myself and ask myself some questions. Do I love God with all my heart and soul and strength? Do I reflect the love of Christ in my daily living? Do I gladly give myself to the service of others? Is my main desire to abide in the love of God?

Jesus, my strength, my love, my life. I have sinned against you and now I humbly confess it. I am sorry, Jesus. Please forgive me and restore me to spiritual health, for in you I find my rest, my peace, my joy – in you I am complete. Amen.

Absolutions (Words of comfort and forgiveness)

The Lord knows your voice; the Lord hears your cry for mercy; the Lord turns his ear towards you. The Lord is gracious and righteous, he is full of compassion; in your need he has saved you. Be at peace, your God forgives you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

God forgives you. Forgive yourself. Through Christ, God has out away your sin: approach your God in peace, through Jesus Christ your redeemer. Amen.

The Lord your God is gracious; he surrounds you with his love, gives light to your eyes and freedom from your sins; God has not deserted you – he shows you kindness and grants you new life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. (from Ezra 9)

Receive forgiveness in the name of our God, the first and the last: you are his servant, he has chosen you and has not rejected you – do not fear for he is with you; do not be dismayed for he is your God – he will strengthen you and help you; he will uphold you with his righteous right hand; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hear the assurances of God’s forgiveness: in the time of his favour the Lord answers you; in the day of salvation he helps you; the Lord comforts you, he has compassion upon you; he has not forsaken you, nor has he forgotten you. Lift up your eyes and look around: the Lord is your saviour and your redeemer: in Christ you are forgiven. Go in peace and sin no more. Amen.
