Tearfund supports fair trade and encourages supporters to buy and promote fair trade products. Tearfund's Trading wing, Tearcraft, produces a fair trade products. Every year Tearfund promotes the Fairtrade Fortnight in March.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2002 - March 4-17 2002 - Your action is needed!

The potential for positive change through fair trade for many communities in the Third World is huge, in our consumer-driven society we have a massive market to convince! That's why we are asking you to join in with Fairtrade Fortnight - it's a great opportunity to raise the fair trade options with your friends, colleagues and church.

• Fair trade give away - Why not buy your family, friends and colleagues some fair trade bananas or chocolate to give away to them during the fortnight
  
  
• Fair trade event - Put on an event or put up a stall at your church (Tearfund Sunday, is an excellent opportunity for such an event) or place of work during the fortnight; materials and ideas for this are given in the action pack or display pack available from the Fairtrade Foundation
  
  
• Fair trade for work & church - Check to see what coffee & tea are used by your work place and church; if its not fair trade, why not?! Why not suggest that your church or work place use fair trade coffee & tea, and whilst you are at it sugar, honey, bananas, orange juice and chocolate too
  
  
• Fair trade news article - Write a news article on fair trade and the fortnight for your church newsletter and ask your local newspaper to cover the fair trade issue during the fortnight. You are welcome to use the above information for such articles, as well as the Tearfund report 'The Bible and Trade - Some biblical reflections' which gives Biblical background for fairtrade ethics.
