Footy Down and OUTs

Ever considered doing a 'Mad One for Jesus'?

A 'Mad One for Jesus' involves those of you who have evangelistic tendancies deciding to go and visit somewhere for a few hours to talk to people about Jesus. The whole thing requires you to be open to the Holy Spirit's leading and guidance in:
a) where to go
b) who to approach and speak to when you get there
c) what to say to them

A Footy-flavoured Mad One

The last few years have seen our nation's appetite for football increase dramatically. For most it's a way of passing a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon but there are thousands of people who are actually addicted to it and for whom it's the most important thing in their lives. They live and breath it and their happiness is massively affected by the performance of their team. If the club's fan base is of a significant enough size - it can even affect the general mood of a city - positively or negatively - depending on the success or failure of the team. For those teams at the bottom of the league - a darkness of uncertainty and despair can seem to descend on a place in much the same way as seen during times of recession (trust me I live in Leicester!)

These people need to hear that there is more to life.

So at this particular time of year as the season is drawing to a close you might consider visiting those cities whose football clubs are having a really bad time of it and are who are looking at the possibility of being relegated. Why not consider going to any of the cities listed below and hanging around outside the ground or in the local pubs before and after the game. Ask God to show you which people to strike up conversation with - and what to say. Remember to go in groups of at least two and to pray for God's protection and direction, and be sensitive - these footy fans will be going through a hard time - oh, and if you are a Man Utd fan - for your own safety - it's probably best not to tell them ;-)
