LIVING IT - SOCIAL ACTION - ENGAGING WITH IT PERSONALLY

Can you be cool and on fire?

'He has shown you, O man what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.' - Micah 6, 8

'Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you.' - James 5,4

Don't have any fields? Think this doesn't apply to you? Think again! If you don't know who made your clothes, or what your bank's investment policy is, or where you're investing when you buy your food…. Then people could be crying out to God against you.

If you want to live radical discipleship, then everything about you seeks to reflect Jesus and declare his Kingdom, including your money. Can you be cool and on fire…?

The compulsion to be relevant to culture by wearing the labels has to be a lie… followers of Jesus must seek to honour and treat justly the workers who produce everything we use - so - buy clothes you can trust, shop where you know what you're investing in, make a difference on the High Street.

'But God wants us to have good things' - Of course he does; but never at the cost of oppression, never if you are ignoring the cries of the poor for the sake of a label. Do you think God can't provide for you? Make the Kingdom your priority, and of course he will.
