SMB is a lively Anglican church near the centre
of Canterbury. We've been around since Saxon times - as have
one or two in the worship bands - although getting bombed
by Germany in WW2 led to a bit of enforced church-planting,
moving up the road and getting a new home.
Chris Pemberton has led the church
since 1998, before which he was on the staff at St Aldates,
Oxford.
Phil Cansdale is the curate and heads up work with
young adults, including Tribal Training. Phil is presently
curate at the church, and likens the job as a bit like being
a vicar with L-plates on. His main areas of leadership responsibility
include young adults, music and worship, and various other
things in the life of the staff team. He's been a perpetual
student for most of his life, although along the way has also
ended up working for the BBC, coping with computers and engaged
in ministry to curry houses in Pakistan.

At the heart of church life we want to "Worship God,
Build His Church, and Love the World...", and have loads
of different people and activities which try to help this
become a living reality in the city and the surrounding area.
We also want to be resourcing other churches in East Kent
to be doing the same.
Kairos
Kairos is a group of young adults who get together to worship,
pray and enjoy fellowship. Our aim is to equip people to worship
God, build His church and love the world. As a group we want
to impact our generation and our community.
As a group we're making quite a few changes in our life together
at the moment, so watch this space
..!

Canterbury
is a small city in the heart of Kent, famous for a cathedral,
a murdered Archbishop, and thousands of French tourists, although
not in that particular order. Even Channel Four's "Time-Team"
have spent some time here recently, digging for ancient, long-forgotten
and fragile relics in the heart of the city, although that's
enough said about some church members??!
